French Classical Orchestra Horn
after Courtois Neveu Aîné (Paris, ca. 1820)
The Courtois orchestra horn has recently been redsigned after an original in excellent condition with original crooks that was acquired by Seraphinoff Historical Instruments in 2012. The bore is slightly smaller than the previous model offered, giving a more centered sound, and the crook tapers are longer than in the previous version.
The larger bell throat of this model gives it a warm sound and solid low register. Bell diameter, 28cm (11") Bore, 10.92mm (.430")
